00:10 During the liberation of the defenders of Mariupol from “Azovstal” in May 2022, the Russian general of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) in a letter promised Ukrainian soldiers security guarantees and release from captivity within three to four months.

“Azovstal” officer Konstantin Kozhekin, who was released from captivity, spoke about this in an interview with BBC Ukraine. This letter was received by the commander of Azov, Denis “Redis” Prokopenko.

According to Kozhekin, the letter was signed by the first deputy head of the Russian GRU, Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, who arrived in Azov in May 2022.
