Explaining that microalgae contribute 60 percent to atmospheric oxygen, Pabuçcu said, “When they see adverse conditions, they turn into a cystic structure. First they multiply, they ‘bloom’ and then they mucilage they produce. In the first stage, we detected the organisms in the mucilage with our study. What types of microalgae exist, we have identified it. We plan to evaluate the pharmaceutical ones and the mucilage itself,” he said.

Stating that they aim to eliminate the problem by oxygenating the mucilage in the glass aquarium they created in the laboratory, Pabuçcu said:
“One-tenth of the water sea saliva We put it in and oxygenated it. We observed that the sea saliva was homogenized and fragmented in about 2 hours. We observed that the algae, which were in the almost dead position in the form of cysts, were reactivated and mobilized approximately 2 hours after the fragmentation. They started photosynthesising in the light again and took up their old positive positions.”
Pabuçcu also said that they are planning to produce a cosmetic gel or cream from mucilage and that they have started a study.
