A ‘VISUAL FEAST’ WILL OCCUR IN THE SKY
Ege University Observatory Director Assoc. Dr. Hasan Ali Dal stated that there will be a visual feast in the sky in August due to the ongoing perseid meteor showers.
In his statement to the AA correspondent, Dal made statements regarding the meteor fall that was also seen from Izmir last night.
Noting that the night’s event is a part of the perseid meteor shower, Dal said, “The perseid meteor shower, which started on July 24, will continue until August 24. This number will increase in the coming days.” said.
Emphasizing that the meteorite seen from Izmir did not descend to the earth, Dal said that it was shattered in the sky.
Underlining that the meteor shower will reach its maximum level on August 13-14, Dal said, “We will be able to see 5-10 meteors per hour at the beginning and end of this meteor shower. However, it will increase to 60 per hour on August 13-14. It will be a complete visual feast. Hours. After 22:00, you have to look at the sky.” he said.
