Khaled Aedh al-Otaibi, a former bodyguard of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was arrested at Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
He is one of 26 Saudi men wanted by Turkish security authorities for the journalist’s murder at the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Istanbul in October 2018.
Radio RTL reported that al-Otaibi, 33, traveled on his own behalf and was placed in court custody in France.
Khashoggi, a journalist who strongly criticized the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was killed and dismembered at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul in October 2018. Riyadh initially denied that the journalist was murdered.
However, the Saudi Arabian government finally acknowledged that journalists Washington Post it had been killed in an “evil operation” by a team of agents sent to coax him back into the kingdom.
