PARIS – Paris Saint Germain (PSG) officially get Lionel Messi from Barcelona for free in the summer transfer window of 2021. Messi’s transfer was confirmed to be official after PSG introduced the superstar through a short video uploaded on their social media. This transfer is the biggest shock to world football this summer.
As is known, Messi has parted ways with Barcelona after not reaching an agreement regarding a new contract. Messi’s farewell press conference with Barcelona took place on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
After that, Messi was closely linked with PSG. Previously, Manchester City and Chelsea were also included in the market for clubs chasing Messi, but PSG was the most frequently mentioned.
Chelsea and Man City focus on other players. Chelsea are focused on signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan and Man City are looking to buy Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after securing the signature of Jack Grealish for a fantastic price from Aston Villa.

Messi reportedly signed a two-year PSG contract with the option of a one-year extension. For salary, Messi receives a net salary of 25 million euros or the equivalent of Rp421.5 billion per year. If the total bonuses, Messi gets 35 million euros or approximately Rp. 590.1 billion per year.
The arrival of Messi will add quality to the PSG front line, which already has Mauro Icardi, Neymar Jr, Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe. With Messi, can PSG win the 2021-2022 Champions League?
