The death sentence was decided by a Bandung High Court (PT) judge in an appeal hearing filed by the prosecutor.
“Received an appeal from the prosecutor / public prosecutor. Sentencing the defendant therefore with the death penalty,” said the judge of PT Bandung, chaired by Herri Swantoro, in his decision received on Monday (4/4/2022).
The document states that the judge handed down the verdict in an open trial that was held today. In his decision, the judge also revised the Bandung District Court’s decision which previously sentenced Herry Wirawan to life in prison. “Determined that the defendant remains in custody,” said the judge.
Previously reported, the West Java Prosecutor’s Office insisted on demanding death penalty for Herry Wirawan. This is the reason the West Java Prosecutor’s Office took the step of an appeal against the life imprisonment sentence handed down by the panel of judges to the sex predator.
“We still think that the crimes committed by Harry Wirawan It is a very serious crime, so we remain consistent that our demand is a death penalty,” said the Head of the West Java Attorney General’s Office (Kajati), Asep N Mulyana in Bandung, Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
