Many have wondered where Prime Minister Ariel Henry has been while gangs have been ravaging the country. He has landed in Puerto Rico, at the same time as a powerful gang leader delivers a powerful warning.

An official who speaks anonymously tells the AP news agency that late on Tuesday afternoon Henry landed at Luiz Muñoz Marín International Airport in Puerto Rico’s capital San Juan.
At the same time, the powerful gang leader Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherisier comes with a strong warning:
– If Ariel Henry does not resign, if the international community continues to support him, we are headed straight for civil war which will lead to genocide.

The prime minister’s arrival is confirmed by Sheila Anglero, spokeswoman for the governor of Puerto Rico.
– He landed in Puerto Rico, but I have no further details. I don’t know if he’s still in Puerto Rico. It was only confirmed to me a while ago that he had landed here, says Anglero to the AFP news agency.

The Haitian Prime Minister was expected to travel to the Dominican Republic later, then fly to Haiti. But because of the gang violence in Haiti, the Dominican Republic’s authorities have closed the airspace to the neighboring country. The two countries are both located on the Caribbean island of Hispanola, and Puerto Rico is the neighboring island to the east.
The wave of violence in Haiti broke out when Henry was away. Doubts were raised about his whereabouts after he first traveled to Kenya to sign an agreement to lead an international force to combat the increasingly powerful gangs in Haiti.
