Matthew Perry is said to have been found dead in his own home in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, according to Los Angeles Times and TMZwho first reported the death.
A cause of death has not been confirmed, but a representative for the actor and a police source tell NBC News that he apparently died of drowning.
Matthew Perry turned 54 years old.
Perry is best known for his role as “Chandler Bing” in the TV series “Friends”, or “Friends for Life”, an American sitcom. In which he had one of the main roles together with actors Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.
The series had 10 seasons in the period 1994 – 2004, with 236 episodes.

Being honored
Perry’s death came as a shock to many in the American entertainment world. A few hours after it became known, the first words of remembrance came.
– We are devastated that our friend Matthew Perry has died, says Warner Bros, the production company behind “Friends” in a statement, they write in a statement.

They describe Perry as a very gifted actor, and an indelible part of the Warner Bros family.
– He was a comic genius, who was noticed all over the world. His legacy will live on in the hearts of many, it added.
Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s on-and-off girlfriend Janice in “Friends”, writes on Instagram that Perry will be missed.
– What a loss. The world will miss Matthew Perry. The joy you gave to so many in your short life will live on. I am happy for every creative moment we had together, she writes.

The comedy show “Saturday Night Live” was also early on in honoring Perry, writes Variety. At the end, the program showed a picture of Perry, followed by a moment of silence. Perry was a guest presenter in 1997.
Emmy
Among other things, Perry has also had roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210”, “Boys will be boys”, “The West wing” and “Scrubs”, where he played opposite his father Jon Bennett Perry.
Perry was nominated for an Emmy for his role in Friends for Life, and two more nominations for his performance in the series “The West Wing.”
He also starred in several blockbusters. Among other things, he played opposite Salma Hayek in Fools Rush and Bruce Willis in The Whole Nine Yards, reports NTB.
Perry was open about her battle with drug addiction.
