The coalition government of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte broke up on Friday due to a heated argument on migration measures.
He offered his resignation to Dutch King Willem-Alexander late Friday, meaning he will not try to stay in office with a government of the minority, broadcaster NOS reported.
The opposition parties called for quick elections, reports AFP.
Rutte wanted to tighten restrictions on family reunions asylum seekers following last year’s scandal over overcrowded migration centers in the country.
