Breaking News: “Dune: Part 2” Release Delayed Due to Hollywood Strike

Bitter news for all cinema fans!

One of the most important films of 2023 falls through: “Dune: Part 2” was supposed to premiere in November, the trailer promised an infernal cinematic experience. The start has now been postponed.

Reason: The Hollywood strike also affects the cult studio Warner Bros.

The ongoing double strike by actors and screenwriters in the USA has largely paralyzed film operations.

Dune: Part 2 stars like Timothée Chalamet, 27, Zendaya, 26, Austin Butler, 32, and Florence Pugh, 27, are banned from attending promotional events while the strike continues.

That’s why the strip shouldn’t be in cinemas until next year. Warner Bros. announced the delayed film release for March 15, 2024.

The shooting of the novel adaptation, again directed by Canadian Denis Villeneuve (“Blade Runner 2049”), has long been completed. The first part of “Dune” had an excellent result at the box office in 2021 despite the pandemic. The sci-fi epic also won six Oscars, including for Hans Zimmer’s score and for visual effects.

Film ended in the middle of the action

As a reminder: “Dune” ended in 2021 in the middle of the action, because the book template, the almost 800-page “Der Wüstenplanet” (The Desert Planet) was too big for a single film.

Anyone who has read Frank Herbert’s book, published in 1965, knows what fans can expect: above all, more action and huge battles than in the predecessor.

What is it about?

After the hostile Harkonnen coup and the assassination of his father, Duke Leto, young Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamat) and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) must seek refuge among the desert people of the Fremen. There, Paul falls in love with the warrior Chani (Zendaya), while his relationship with his mother shows more and more cracks.

Now it’s time to reclaim the sand planet Arrakis, but the ruling Emperor (Christopher Walken) and the evil Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård) want to do everything in their power to prevent this…
