Hamburg airport is closed because an armed man drove his car onto the site. He broke through a fence with his vehicle around 8 p.m. and drove onto the airport platform, a German police spokesperson told the DPA news agency.
The man is said to have already shot into the air twice. There were two children in his car. According to the DPA news agency, the man’s wife had informed the police about a possible child abduction.
All departing and arriving flights at the German city’s airport have been canceled for the time being. There is a large police presence on the airport grounds.
