Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia China has returned to its Covid-19 lockdown. This time, the governmentlockdown Lanzhou city, Gansu Province, where four million people live.
All residents are asked to stay at home except in an emergency. “All types of housing communities must implement closed management,” the government was quoted as saying AFP, Tuesday (26/10/2021).
Previously, China had closed a number of districts infected with Covid-19 in Inner Mongolia. This is a continuation of the increase in Covid-19 cases in the past week after an infection was found in a tour group last October 17.
The case started with an elderly couple from Shanghai who were infected with Covid and went on a tour to Gansu and Inner Mongolia. Of the five infected provinces, there are now at least 11 provinces that have announced cases of Covid-19, including the capital city of Beijing.
This case also spread to 12 other tour groups. Reportedly in a week there are hundreds of cases found.
Quotes Reuters, Xi Jinping’s government health official, said the latest Covid-19 outbreak was likely to spread further. Not only the Delta variant, the flu season factor is also another cause.
“There is an increased risk that the outbreak may spread further due to seasonal factors,” said Mi Feng, spokeswoman for China’s National Health Commission, speaking to reporters earlier this week.
China now has 603 active cases. Today there are 29 new local cases reported. From the start of the corona virus spreading at the end of 2019, the country recorded 96,840 cases with 4,636 deaths.
