Breakfasts served to 600 students in the priority education network

The signing of the Breakfast convention took place on Wednesday February 11, 2021 in the presence of Vice-Rector Michel Sanz, President of the Community Daniel Gibbs, his 3rd VP Sofia Carti in charge of education, President of the CTOS Pascale Laborde and the deputy director of IREPS Guadeloupe, Raoul Legba.

This national system is part of the Poverty Plan, on the territory of the Collectivity for the following elementary schools Aline Hanson (REP) of Sandy Ground, Clair St Maximin (REP +) of Quartier d’Orléans and Omer Arrondell (REP +) from Quartier D’Orléans, and the Jean Anselme (REP +) nursery schools from Quartier d’Orléans, Elian Clarke (REP +) from Quartier d’Orléans and Jérôme Beaupère (REP) from Sandy Ground.

This joint initiative of National Education, the Caisse Territoriale des Oeuvres Scolaires (CTOS), the Regional Authority for Education and Health Promotion Guadeloupe (IREPS) and the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, will allow the distribution of breakfasts for the students of these schools from February 22, 2021 to June 25, 2021. 600 students are affected by this system.

“Children will have access to this breakfast every morning, on the 4 school days, between 7:30 am for elementary classes and 8:00 am for nursery schools,” said the president of the Collectivity.

Information for families

The IREPS, responsible for training and supporting educational teams, has scheduled training for the benefit of teachers and canteen staff assigned to these schools to enable them to support children and distribute playful information to them. on good nutrition. “The objective is also that these tips be followed by parents at home,” notes the Collectivity.

The device is funded by national education and the community. The Academy of Guadeloupe commits to 600 meals to be served at 2.00 euros per day over 61 days for a total of 73,200 euros. The Collectivity of Saint-Martin is committed to:
– an additional € 0.93 on each meal served for cycle 1 students,
– a supplement of € 1.00 on each meal served for students in cycles 2 and 3.

A survey carried out in Saint-Martin

108 elementary school students in the CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 levels of REP / REP + were questioned on their eating habits, in particular on taking the first meal of the day.
