Breakfast that Diabetics Should Avoid, Makes High Blood Sugar

JAKARTA Diabetics must consume breakfast right. The reason is, any eating can cause blood sugar rise thus increasing the chances health problems which is serious.

If you are already suffering diabetes , things like exercise, insulin, medication, and a healthy diet can help lead a healthier life. Foods that can raise blood sugar levels include things that are high in sugar and low in fiber.

Reporting from Eat This, Wednesday (12/1/2021) these foods can be dangerous to eat for those who are already living with diabetes.

According to Courtney D’Angelo, MS, RD, author on GoWellness, one of the worst breakfasts for diabetics is cereal and milk. The reason is, despite having a delicious taste, cereals and milk contain high amounts of carbohydrates and sugar.

“Traditional cereals and milk for breakfast have the potential to raise your blood glucose levels, especially if you choose cereals with little or no fiber,” says D’Angelo.

Since diabetes greatly affects the way your body processes blood sugar, cereals and milk are breakfast foods to avoid.

Getting enough fiber can help control blood sugar levels, so if you still want to eat cereal, make sure to choose one that’s high in fiber. D’Angelo also suggests replacing it with oatmeal and nuts on top.

“With this breakfast, you get legumes with fiber and protein,” explains D’Angelo.

As a bonus, nuts like almonds contain healthy monounsaturated fats, which research shows can help stabilize blood sugar.
