Podcast Draft – Baltimore Ravens: goal ring

Texans: two more years for Brandin Cooks

Finally some stability in the career of Brandin Cooks (WR). The receiver was entering the last year of his contract. But according to ESPN, the receiver just signed a 2-year extension. The financial terms are not yet known.

The former first-round pick still caught 90 passes for 1,037 yards and 6 touchdowns last season. Passed by the Saints, Patriots and Rams before Houston, he exceeded 1,000 yards in six of his eight seasons in the league. He is still only 28 years old, and will therefore be an ally of choice for the progression of Davis Mills.

Brian Flores receives support in his class action against the NFL…

At the beginning of February, Brian Flores filed a complaint against the Dolphins, the Giants, the Broncos and the NFL for racist practices against black coaches. This Thursday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Steve Wilks (ex-HC, Cardinals) and Ray Horton (ex-DC, Cardinals) are joining the class action led by Brian Flores.

The first accuses the Arizona franchise of having hired him as a transition coach for the 2018 season without having really given him a chance to succeed. The accusation of the second targets the Titans who would have used the interviews conducted in 2016 with Ray Horton for the position of head coach to satisfy the Ronney rule when they had already promised the position to Mike Murlakey. The latter’s words in a 2020 interview corroborate this version.

A little later in the day, the two franchises concerned denied the facts in press releases.

…and makes new charges against the Dolphins

Indeed, Brian Flores would have been the victim of pressure during the 2019 season to lose games and secure the Dolphins the first pick of the 2020 draft (which they did not obtain, note).

The prosecution points to a memo sent by Brian Flores on December 4, 2019 to Chris Grier (GM), Tom Garfinkel (President) and Brandon Shore (SVP), where he discusses the “toxic” environment in which it evolves and pressure from owner Stephen Ross to tank.

Aaron Donald (Rams): “I get better with age”

Like fine wine, the Rams defenseman seems to get better year after year. And that’s exactly how he feels this offseason, as he confided during his appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast:

“I practiced on Wednesday with a friend and I asked him after practice: ‘What do you think?’ And he answered me: ‘You still have three or five years in front of you with the way you move’. So, I feel good, I feel really good. I feel fast and explosive. I don’t feel like I’m going down. I feel like I’m in better shape. I keep telling people that I get better with age. I don’t slow down. I just feel like I’m getting stronger. »

Rumors

– After visiting the Saints facilities earlier this week, Tyrant Mathieu (S) would be courted by the Eagles. He would even have had a video interview. (NewOrleans.Football/NFL Media)

Death

– Rayfield Wright, Hall of Famer who won 2 Super Bowls with the Cowboys, died Thursday at the age of 76. His family confirmed the information, as did the Dallas franchise. Wright had been hospitalized for several days following a malaise.

Moreover

– The former Dolphins cornerback Terrell Buckley was named head coach of the new Orlando franchise in the XFL. This league will be entitled to a third chance in 2023 after its takeover by a consortium including actor Dwayne Johnson.

Social media negotiations for Deebo Samuel

Deebo Samuel (WR/RB, 49ers) is entering the final year of his contract. He would surely want one of the big extensions signed by a few star receivers lately. So he did what now seems like a way to send a message: he removed all traces of the 49ers from his Instagram page.

Rob Gronkowski tackles the Patriots on their bonus policy

In the last regular season game, the Buccaneers had made sure that Rob Gronkowski can receive a bonus of one million dollars by reaching statistical objectives. The tight end looked back on that moment with Jimmy Kimmel this week and took the opportunity to tackle the Patriots. Would the New England franchise manage to avoid having to pay certain bonuses to their players? In any case, this is what Rob Gronkowski suggested:

“I had known him before. But not with the Patriots. They would probably put you on the bench before you could collect your bonus.
