The cut in telecommunications cables on Wednesday at the Bulle station construction site disrupted the operation of the Château-d’Œx hospital, which was disconnected for more than 24 hours. An emergency system has been put in place.

The outage of the Swisscom network, which occurred on Wednesday during an incident at the Bulle station construction site, had consequences as far as Pays-d’Enhaut. “This breakdown had a major impact on the Pays-d’Enhaut health center, which includes the Château-d’Œx hospital, an EMS and the home care service,” explains its director Pascale Castellani. “For 24 hours, the entire Home Care Service operated blindly. However, we were able to use the private network of colleagues who were not at Swisscom. We also exchanged phones to reach outside security personnel. ” Deprived of fixed and mobile telephony, the hospital was able to stay connected to the internet thanks to the cantonal network.

A civil defense man remained in the hospital during the crisis with a radio to maintain contact with the alarm and rescue centers, said the director. “Luckily, we didn’t have any problems during the night, but we had to improvise,” acknowledges Pascale Castellani. This situation, she and her staff would have done well in this health crisis linked to the coronavirus: “We are already in a very complicated period.” The hospital’s access to the telecommunications network was finally restored on Thursday afternoon.
