On February 5th, publisher Hooded Horse released Edgeflow Studio’s deck-building sci-fi roguelike game,Breachway‘ has been announced to begin early access distribution on March 22nd. The supported platforms are PC (Steam/Epic Games Store/GOG.com), and the in-game display is in Japanese.
“Breachway” is a deck-building sci-fi roguelike game in development that is influenced by “Slay the Spire” and “FTL: Faster Than Light.” Players take on the role of captain of a spaceship, gathering a crew and equipping them as they travel across the galaxy in pursuit of a mysterious signal.
Spaceships come in multiple classes and can be customized with a combination of weapon systems, defense upgrades, and internal modules. Crew members are required to handle the equipment, and each member has unique skills and team effects. As you travel through space, you’ll collect equipment upgrades, crew members, and cards to use in battle.
There are various factions and pirates in space, and you fight against enemy spaceships in turn-based card battles. Cards are assigned from a card deck in a way that is linked to various equipment on the spaceship. Card types can be broadly divided into attack, defense, and those that add buff effects, which can be used at a cost. You strategically cut cards while taking into account the contents of your opponent’s deck. Also, by directly attacking and destroying enemy cards (equipment), you can nullify that card for a certain number of turns.
When Early Access begins, it will include four ship classes, multiple exploration zones and combat environments, and a meta-progression system, as well as a wealth of equipment options, a wide card pool, and random events.
“Breachway” is available on PC (Steam/Epic Games Store/GOG.com) will be released in early access on March 22nd. Also, a trial version is currently available on Steam. You can try out the game’s prologue and the first zone of the galaxy map.
