Breach of negotiations – forced mediation on Monday

On Friday, the parties in the frontline subjects started voluntary mediation with the Ombudsman.

On Sunday, it became clear that there is a breach of voluntary mediation in the industry, and the negotiations are now going to forced mediation.

It reports Fellesforbundet.

The Ombudsman has summoned the parties to compulsory mediation on Monday at 11 am.

The mediation deadline is March 31.

27600 can be taken out on strike

Fellesforbundet has announced which companies will be covered by a possible conflict.

The notice means that 27,600 employees may be taken out on strike, if Fellesforbundet and Norsk Industri do not reach an agreement within the deadline.

The notice of resignation covers just over 950 companies. Just over 760 of these are organized in Norwegian Industry, while the others are companies with which Fellesforbundet has a direct agreement.

Forced mediation also for Parat

The mediation between Parat and Norsk Industri was also broken on Sunday.

– Parat is now entering forced mediation until midnight on Thursday 31 March. Our goal is to agree with Norsk Industri on a new collective agreement, but if no agreement is reached, we will be on strike from Friday 1 April, says Parat leader Unn Kristin Olsen in a press release.

Insecurity

The wage negotiations in what is referred to as the front subject, ie industry, started on 9 March. While employee organizations are demanding increased purchasing power and have pointed to ever-rising prices, Norsk Industri has warned against a wage increase that will affect competitiveness.

– Most things are difficult, said Fellesforbundet’s leader Jørn Eggum when the negotiations were broken on 15 March. He pointed out that these are uncertain times.

So did national mediator Mats Wilhelm Ruland.

– The two previous settlements have also been demanding. It has been a demanding time with great uncertainty. Many industries have been hit hard by the pandemic, many have been laid off. It fluctuates a lot and there are big differences in society, it makes it difficult to find good solutions, he said before the mediation started.

Price growth

The war in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia have led to price increases and unpredictability for both workers and companies.

The Technical Calculation Committee (TBU), which consists of the parties in working life and presents key figures in advance of the wage settlements, just before the negotiations raised the expected inflation to 3.3 per cent.

The outcome of the settlement in the front subject has a lot to say for the wage settlement in other industries as well. The idea with the front-line subject model is that competitive industry negotiates first and sets the framework for the other settlements.
