Casemiro, the Brazilian national team star, criticized the defensive strategy adopted by Venezuela, in the match that brought together the two teams, which ended in a 1-1 draw in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Casemiro said in statements after the match, “The match was about one team wanting to play, and the other just defending… Unfortunately, they were able to score in the end.”

Casemiro complained that the opponent “usually looks for tricks far from football” to harm his team on the field, noting that Venezuela deliberately wasted time.

He continued, “We realize that when they play against Brazil, they want to destabilize us so that we lose our concentration. This is the goal of their game, and it always takes the goalkeeper a long time to put the ball back into play.”

He added, “This is not an excuse, but it is difficult to concentrate in these situations.”

Casemiro left the match limping due to an ankle problem, which may prevent him from participating with Brazil against Uruguay next Tuesday in the fourth round of qualifiers.
