“Brazilian President Lula da Silva Invites South American Leaders for Regional Integration Meeting in Brasilia”

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva invited South American heads of state to a regional meeting which
will be held in Brasilia on the 30th, to promote regional integration.

The objective of the meeting is to promote dialogue between all the countries of the region, with a view to reactivating the South American cooperation agenda in key areas such as health, climate change,
defence, the fight against transnational crime, infrastructure and energy, according to a press release from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“It is imperative that we see South America again as a region of peace and cooperation, capable of generating concrete initiatives to meet the challenge that we all share and to which we
we all aspire, that of sustainable development and social justice,” Lula said in a message sent to his peers in the region.
