Brazil’s President Zaire Bolsonaro first acknowledged the victory of US President-elect Joe Biden and issued an official congratulatory message.
In a congratulatory statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, President Bolsonaro said, “I am ready to work with Biden-elect. Will”.
President Bolsonaro, dubbed “Trump of Brazil,” did not acknowledge Biden’s victory while speaking in support of President Donald Trump, who alleged election fraud.
The media predicted that if Biden took office, he would take a hard line for Brazil in areas such as the environment, human rights and trade.
Meanwhile, Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Mexican Presidents Lopez Obrador, who had not yet expressed their stance on Biden’s victory in the presidential election, also issued public messages acknowledging Biden’s victory.
