Brazilian piano virtuoso Nelson Freire (77) passed away, child prodigy already played the piano when he was three

In a serious fall in Rio de Janeiro at the end of 2019, Nelson Freire had broken his right arm, after which he had to undergo surgery on his shoulder. He never really recovered and was reportedly in a depression, some of his friends in the Brazilian press testify.

The pianist has not played the piano since his fall. He was supposed to perform in public again last year, but the concerts were canceled due to the corona crisis.
