Without a definition for the renewal of Everton Ribeiro, the Flamengo continues to map the market for the midfielder position even after the signing of De La Cruz. And the name observed this time is Brazilian Evander, 25 years old, formerly of Vasco and currently at Portland Timbers, in the United States.

This is not the first time that the Flamengo check the player’s situation. When the midfielder belonged to Midtjylland, the club tried to loan him, but negotiations with the Danes did not go ahead. Now, Evander is back on the radar.
Hired by Portland in December 2022, Evander was voted the team’s best player this season – in addition to being a midfielder, he also played as a second midfielder. Despite the good moment on American soil, the athlete welcomes his return to Brazil, and the red-black project pleased him.
O Flamengo consulted the American team to find out Evander’s situation. Portland responded that there is no interest in the sale at this time. Rubro-Negro, however, made a new inquiry to find out the values of a possible permanent signing and is awaiting a response.

Taking Evander out of MLS will not be an easy task, if the Flamengo insist on business. The midfielder was Portland’s biggest transaction (R$53 million at the time), which made him one of the most expensive signings in the history of the American League. The player has a contract until December 2026.
With the player on the rise and the high amount invested a year ago, the Americans will play hard to open negotiations for Evander. The player’s desire to return to Brazil could be the red-and-black trump card to move forward in the conversations.
It is worth noting that Vasco is entitled to 3.5% of the value of any player sale due to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism. Evander left São Januário in 2018 and started his career in Europe with Midtjylland.

At Midtjylland, Evander was one of the team’s highlights. In total, there were 50 goals and 40 assists in 165 games. The midfielder won the Danish Championship in 2020 and the Danish Cup in 2019 and 2022. In addition to access to the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
At Portland, the midfielder played 29 games and had 15 direct appearances: 11 goals and 4 assists.
