A joint team from the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya and Soekarno-Hatta Customs arrested him foreign nationals (foreigners) from Brazil after being caught smuggling liquid cocaine camouflaged in a shampoo bottle. Perpetrator I pressured by drug networks in Brazil.
The Jakarta Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Agency, Kombes Mukti Juharsa, said that the perpetrator with the initials GPS (25) had already carried out a similar action in November 2021. He admitted that he was forced to carry out this action because he and his family were threatened by drug network which is in Brazil.
“The suspect’s motive for committing this crime was because he had to for the safety of his family, which was threatened by a network of drug dealers in Brazil,” Mukti said at a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday (15/3/2023).
GPS itself was captured on Sunday (1/1/2023), at around 10.00 WIB, when it arrived in Indonesia from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. When checked, officers found 6 bottles of shampoo with a strong odor. When checked, it was found that the bottles contained liquid cocaine with a total amount of 2 liters or the equivalent of IDR 20 billion.
Mukti said the police were still investigating the narcotics trafficking case. For this case, GPS was detained and charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) a subsidiary of Article 115 paragraph (2) more subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of RI Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison .
“This is a disclosure of the international network as a result of cooperation between Customs and the police, especially Polda Metro Jaya,” he said.
Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise Main Service Office Gatot Sugeng Wibowo said his party would continue to coordinate with the police to prevent these illicit goods from entering Indonesia.
“For this reason, we from Customs and Excise are always vigilant in this regard. We continue to coordinate well with Polda Metro Jaya, Police Headquarters and BNN we will coordinate in order to prevent the entry of narcotics from abroad to Indonesia,” he added.
