Brazilian judge: ‘No drugs on plane on departure to Suriname’

A judge in Brazil has ordered the release of the crew of the plane that was scheduled to depart from Belem to Suriname last Tuesday. Upon inspection a box with suspicious contents was found, in which the substance tested positive for narcotics.

However, a new expert report a few days later found that there was no cocaine in the load. The judge therefore decided that crew members Giovanni Roy and Andrew Dennis Parsons should be released immediately. The men were detained for two days.

The conduct of the Brazilian judicial authorities raises many questions. Immediately after the arrest of the crew, the website of the Brazilian ministry indicated in detail and with various photos that there was a drug seizure on the plane that was about to leave for Suriname.

Films were also distributed by the federal police showing the drug capture:

Diverse Brazilian and Surinamese media names the message from the government. Ultimately, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security removed the entire post from its official website as if it never happened.
