Brazilian football legend Pelé dies

KOMPAS. com – Legend soccer Brazil, Firstpassed away at Albert Einstein Hospital, Sao Paulo, aged 82 on Friday (30/12/2022) at morning WIB.

“The king is dead,” Pele’s agent Joe Fraga is quoted as saying ESPN.

The family also confirmed the news of Pele’s death through the legend’s Twitter account.

“Inspiration and love marked the journey of King Pele, who passed away peacefully today. Love, love and love forever.”

Before he died, Pele underwent intensive care in hospital for the past month to fight to recover from the colon cancer he had been suffering from since 2021.

Pelé, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is one of the best footballers of all time.

He was introduced to the world at the age of 17 at the 1958 World Cup, becoming the youngest player in the tournament’s history to reach the final and emerge as champion.

Pelé also set another record as the only footballer to win three World Cups, namely in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

He is also listed as Brazil’s top scorer or top scorer with 77 goals in 92 games.
