(CNN) – Brazilian authorities have reported that they are investigating the video of a demonstration in the city of Sao Miguel do Oeste, in which people are seen making a “Nazi salute”.
The demonstration, which took place in front of a military barracks in the city, appeared to be one of several events organized this Wednesday around the country’s military barracks, where supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro came to protest against the results of the second round. presidential. Bolsonaro lost his candidacy for re-election to leftist leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The video, which was posted on Twitter, shows a crowd of people, some carrying the Brazilian flag and others wrapped in it, doing what appears to be the Nazi salute, as the national anthem plays.

Inciting the Nazis is considered a crime in Brazil. The federal prosecutor of the state of Santa Catarina said in his statement that he is already working “to identify the people who gave the Nazi salute during the demonstrations that should have been democratic and peaceful”.
“Once identified, a report will be drawn up and the information will be sent to the prosecutor for the responsibility of the people involved,” said prosecutor Marcela de Jesús Fernandes.
