Brazil: woman is arrested by the Police after taking her uncle’s body to a bank to take out a loan

Woman could be sued for embezzlement and defamation.

The employees of Itaú Unibanco in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) experienced moments of terror when a woman came with her uncle’s body to their facilities to request a loan of 17,000 reais or US$3,200.

The woman identified as Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes, went to the financial branch with the inert body of her uncle, Paul Roberto Braga because she needed his signature to finish the procedure and withdraw the sum. She carried her body in a wheelchair so that no one would be suspicious and tried to pass her off as sick.

At first, the woman was able to fool the bank employees, but by the time her uncle was supposed to sign some documents, it became evident that the old man could not hold the pen or keep his head upright.

For this reason, they called the Police who arrived at the scene to arrest de Souza Vieira Nunes. After verifying that the old man was dead, they arrested the niece. It is presumed that she could be prosecuted for defamation and embezzlement.
