Brazil: WarnerMedia and SBT stay with the televising of the Champions League

The audiovisual company WarnerMedia together with the Open TV station SBT of Brazil acquired the broadcasting rights in Brazilian territory of the Champions League (the most important interclub tournament in Europe) for the 2021/2022, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons, according to the information published by the UOL de Brasil website. WarnerMedia’s sports brand TNT Sports will show some matches on the Pay TV signals TNT and Space and all matches on the SVOD streaming platform TNT Sports Stadium, while SBT will broadcast one match per day, including the single final of the competition.

The agreement will take effect in the middle of this year when a new edition of the Champions League begins. The current television contract for Brazilian territory, in force until the end of this edition to be disputed on May 29, belongs to WarnerMedia in Pay TV and paid streaming and Facebook in the open mode (Facebook recently announced that it will not renew the rights of sports transmission you have).

As explained by UOL (the news was not officially announced yet), WarnerMedia and SBT competed in the tender with Globo, which presented a proposal for all the rights (Open TV, Pay TV and paid streaming). The Team agency was responsible for the commercialization.
