/ world today news/ Brazil is ready to negotiate a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union. The deal is part of Mercosur’s agenda, Brazilian Deputy Agriculture Minister Tatiana Palermo said.
Mercosur is the South American trade bloc that unites Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.
“We are the main supporter in Mercosur in terms of establishing a free trade agreement. We are studying the possibilities and reviewing the numbers,” she told the Sputnik agency.
“This is part of the things we are discussing in Mercosur. We are already talking with our colleagues from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, with our common goal being to start negotiations,” added Palermo.
Besides the South American countries, countries such as China, Egypt, Syria, Israel, Tunisia and Thailand are interested in a free trade agreement with the union.
The member countries of the Eurasian Union are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan is a potential member.
