Zurich –
Brazil and Argentina have to undergo one party remaining in 2022 World Cup Qualification. Because this is a demand FIFA after the appeal was rejected.
Duel Brazil vs Argentina in Sao Paulo, Monday (6/9/2021) early in the morning, it had already been five minutes. However, the match was suddenly stopped due to the intervention of the Brazilian Health Authority (Anvisa) and the local police.
They entered the field and asked for the match to be stopped due to a violation of health protocols by four Argentine players, namely Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendia, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero.
The four players were declared not to follow the mandatory quarantine after arriving from London. As a result, the game was postponed by the South American Football Federation (CONMEBOL) indefinitely.
Even when the qualifiers were completed earlier this year, the match had not yet taken place. Because the match had no effect because Brazil and Argentina qualified for Qatar as champions and runners-up qualification.
FIFA argues otherwise. Through a meeting held in Zurich, Monday (9/5/2022), it was decided that Brazil vs Argentina still have to be implemented to complete the 18 matches of each team. The time is during the international break next September.
The two federations have actually agreed to replace it with a friendly in Melbourne 11 June. However, FIFA insisted that the match be held and even imposed sanctions of 250,000 Swiss Francs on Brazil for security breaches, and 100,000 Swiss Francs on Argentina for neglecting the status of players.
In addition, FIFA also imposed a fine of 50 thousand Swiss Francs to each country because the match was canceled. The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) and the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) will appeal to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport).
