Brazil suffers the deadliest week due to the Covid-19 pandemic | News

Brazil, which became the second country with the highest number of Covid-19 infections worldwide, reported this Saturday that the week of March 7 to 13 was the deadliest since the start of the SARS-CoV coronavirus pandemic -2, in March 2020.

In the last seven days, more than 500,000 new infections were recorded with a total of 12,766 deaths, according to statistics released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

In the last 24 hours alone, the South American giant added 1,986 deaths from the evil caused by SARS-CoV-2 and another 75,555 positive cases.





Conass indicated that Brazil registers an accumulated 277,091 deaths from Covid-19 and 11,438,935 infections since the beginning of the health crisis, surpassed only by the United States, which has more than 30,000,000 cases, with 546,605 deaths.

According to the source, the national fatality rate is 2.4 percent.





The pandemic has exceeded the hospital resources available to the South American country, to the extent that at least 58 patients with Covid-19 or suspects died while waiting for an intensive care bed in the state of Sao Paulo, reported the correspondent of teleSUR, Nacho Lemus.

According to the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), the occupancy rates of the Intensive Care Units (ICU) for patients with Covid-19 is equal to or greater than 80 percent in 19 states and the Federal District.
