Brazil adds more than 56,000 new cases of COVID-19
MADRID, 4 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has relaxed the requirements for submitting applications, as well as for subsequent approval, of the emergency use of coronavirus vaccines.
These measures that will relax the process include eliminating the obligation that only vaccines with Phase 3 tests that are being carried out in Brazil can be endorsed by the agency, according to Jornal do Brasil.
With this flexibility, it would be possible to approve the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, which has just been known to be more than 90 percent effective, and which is already being applied in other countries in the region, although it does not lead to conducting trials in Brazil.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health has confirmed this Wednesday 56,002 new cases of coronavirus, with which the global number of infections registered in the country is already 9,339,420.
The latest epidemiological balance of the health authorities reflects that there are 8,236,864 Brazilians who have recovered after contracting the disease, while another 874,993 cases are still active.
On the other hand, the Health portfolio has regretted 227,563 deaths due to COVID-19, after registering 1,254 deaths in the last 24 hours.
