Brazil reduces orders for the Embraer KC-390

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit Brazil particularly hard. Not only has a particularly large number of people died in the country as a result of infection with the corona virus, Brazil is also struggling massively economically with the effects of the crisis. That is why the Brazilian government also argues with budget restrictions to justify a reduced budget for the armed forces. The FAB (Força Aérea Brasileira) will also have to make savings in the coming years.

KC-390 has proven itself in the pandemic

When investing in new equipment, the FAB has to make do with six fewer KC-390 transport aircraft than previously planned. You will still receive a maximum of 22 copies – and not 28 as previously planned. The FAB currently operates four KC-390s, which the Brazilian government says have also performed exceptionally well in transporting vaccines and medical supplies to remote areas during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Embraer must now increase its efforts in finding additional export customers. The manufacturer’s order books currently include five KC-390 firm orders for Portugal and two for Hungary.
