While racism linked to environmental defense activities is rife in Brazil, Eliete Paraguassu, member of the Fishermen’s Association of Maré Island, now the victim of death threats because of his commitment, and Douglas Belchior , historian and responsible for the organization Uneafro Brazil (popular education network), both are members of the coalition of black associations for the defense of their rights (Black Coalition for Rights), decipher the situation in their country.
