Brazil registered 1,456 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours and exceeded 540,000 deaths from COVID-19, while infections reached 19,308,109, after 45,591 new cases were notified this Friday, the Government reported.
Despite the fact that the South American giant already adds 540,398 deaths, the number of fatalities continues to decline, according to the balance of the Ministry of Health disclosed.
The daily average has been below 1,300 deaths for three consecutive days and in relation to the previous Friday, the average went from 1,391 deaths from covid per day to 1,244, a fall of 10.5%.
Infections have also yielded, with a decrease of 12.1%, from the daily average registered the previous Friday (47,576 cases) to today’s average (41,087).
Brazil, one of the countries hardest hit by the pandemic, begins to see the results of the vaccination campaign and although the levels are still high, the number of deaths and infections of the virus chains three weeks down in the country.
The fall in the numbers reflects the effects of the vaccination campaign that is advancing with more force in the country and is beginning to be noticed in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, two of its most populated regions and whose homonymous capitals are the main cities of Brazil.
Both capitals are on the verge of completing the first major goal of the vaccination plan. By mid-August, all those over 18 years of age will have at least the first dose of the vaccine and will be able to start the immunization process with adolescents.
The road, however, is still long for this country of 212 million inhabitants, where 41% of the population has the first dose of the vaccine, but only 15.7% have the complete immunization cycle.
Brazil is the second country in the world with the highest number of deaths, after the United States, and the third in number of infections, behind the North American country and India.
