For the 2022 World Cup: Neymar leads the Brazil squad.
Led by superstar Neymar, who has been brilliant for weeks, but like Russia four years ago, without a single Bundesliga player, record-breaking champion Brazil wants to reach his sixth World Cup star in Qatar. National team coach Tite has mixed established names such as Daniel Alves (39) and Thiago Silva (38) in the 26-man squad with new hopes such as strikers Vini Jr. (22) and Rodrygo (21) of Real Madrid, winner of the Champions League.
Instead, Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes (24) or Liverpool star Roberto Firmino (31) go into the squad. In the case of the winger ManUtd Antony (22), however, the joy for the nomination is enormous, as shown by a video from his room.
Fresh start for “Hexa-Hunt”
61-year-old Tite, who failed four years ago in the hunt for “Hexa” in the quarter-finals against Belgium, has tested 84 players in 50 games in the current World Cup cycle, playing 35 times against South American rivals and only one against one Europeans (Czech Republic). Brazil marched through the undefeated Eliminatorias.
The five-time world champion will begin preparations for the World Cup next Monday at the Juventus training center and will travel to Doha on 19 November. The debut against Serbia follows five days later. Other opponents in Group G are the Swiss national team (28 November) and Cameroon (2 December).
