Brazil, Mexico and Chile are the main countries in Latin America that present LEED certifications. This was reported in the Sustainable Construction Report for the first semester, prepared by the Chile Green Building Council, which shows the number of projects registered and certified in Latin America for LEED certifications (sustainable building seals). At the regional level, Brazil leads the list with 2,248 registered projects, of which 997 have been certified.
In second place is Mexico with 1,804 registered projects, of which 744 have been certified. Meanwhile, in third place is Chile with 561 registered projects and 291 certified projects.
The rest of the list of countries in relation to certified projects continues with Colombia (290), Argentina (174), Peru (163), Costa Rica (166), Guatemala (36), Ecuador (37), El Salvador (14), Uruguay (18), Paraguay (10), Venezuela (3) and Bolivia (2).
On the other hand, in relation to the regional growth of LEED certifications, in the first half of 2024 it was 5.6%, while the growth in the second half of 2023 was 6.2%. Where Brazil, Mexico and Chile are the countries that have grown the most in that period.
The report detailed the m2 of LEED projects in Chile, where there are 8,208,087.92 m2 registered, 3,604,291.90 m2 certified and 4,643,938.02 m2 in process. Where the main sectors used are offices, retail, multifamily, warehouses and hotels.
