Brazil launches enrollment in higher education program open to Maroca students

Moroccan students are part of a Brazilian government higher education program, for which registration is open until September 30.

Morocco is among a handful of Arab countries that have signed agreements with the South American country, whose students are eligible to pursue higher education in Brazil in 2021, such as Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon and Syria.

“Registrations for the selection process of the Programa” Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação (PEC-G) “will be open until September 30,” announced the Secretariat of Higher Education of the Brazilian Ministry of Education.

The PEC-G program benefits students over 18 from countries in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Oceania, Asia and Europe with which Brazil has concluded agreements in the fields education and culture.

Places are made available free of charge at Brazilian universities, which are responsible for informing the education ministry of the number of places and courses available, the same source explained.

Accepted students will join the courses of their choice in the first semester, explained the Secretariat, noting that the courses are open to students with the baccalaureate and a certificate of mastery of the Portuguese language.

Applicants are required to register with diplomatic missions or Brazilian consular offices in their respective countries, filling out a form and presenting originals and copies of their high school certificate, among others.

Applications for registration, which the services concerned have started to receive since the 13th instant, will be selected on the basis of a number of criteria, while the results will be published on the website of the Division of Educational Affairs and Portuguese Language. under the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DELP).

The DELP has published a list of 201 courses available: business administration, anthropology, agronomy, architecture, astronomy, biomedicine, cinema, computer science, economics, journalism, foreign trade, dance, physical education, civil engineering, environmental engineering , pharmacy, Hospitality, psychology, social work, chemistry, zootechnics and medicine, among others.

Institutions open to foreign students include the University of Brasília, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the Caxias do Sul University, the Methodist University of São Paulo and the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM ).

The PEC-G, which concerns undergraduate studies, is developed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, in partnership with public, federal, state and private universities. It currently has 2,000 students, 72.4% of whom are African students, 22% from South America, 5.2% from Central America and the Caribbean and 0.3% from Asia.
