Brazil: good forecasts for the 2020/2021 grain harvest – News

According to data from the 3rd Survey of the 2020/21 grain harvest, published by the Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab), Brazil is expected to reach 265.9 million tons of grains in the 2020/2021 harvest, with 9 million t (3.5%) more compared to the 2019/2020 harvest, and that the cultivated area increases by 1.6%, with a total of 67 million hectares.

Soybeans and corn represent 89% of grain production. In the case of soybeans, a 3.3% growth in cultivated area is expected, with a production of 134.5 million tons, making the country the world’s largest producer of oilseeds. In the case of corn, it is estimated that total production amounts to 102.6 million tons.

Exports

Until November, 27.7 million t of corn (-20% compared to the same previous period) and 82.9 million t of soybeans were exported.
