The entry of merchandise from Paraguay above the tax-free level, which is 500 dollars once a month, must be declared and consequently pay the corresponding import tax item by item. Failure to pay the tax constitutes smuggling and the person responsible can be sentenced to up to 4 years in prison.

The Federal Police had the support of the Federal Highway Police during the intervention carried out in the Brazilian primary zone. According to the data, the driver of the vehicle began to show nervousness upon being approached, for which reason it was decided to carry out a more detailed control, detecting the false bottom.
