Brazil exceeds one million foreign visitors for the first time since 2020

Brazil has managed to exceed one million foreign visitors in the first five months of this year, reaching the figure of 1,092,579 arrivals in the country, reported the International Transit System of that nation.

According to published data, in the month of April alone, 962,000 people arrived in Brazil with tourist visas, 60% more than in all of 2021.

By also adding the 129,744 visitors in May, the destination once again breaks the barrier of more than 1 million foreign tourists, a record not reached since 2020.

Starting from a partnership with Sebrae, the tourism promotion agency par excellence of the Rio de Janeiro country, Embratur, has carried out a series of actions to increase the dissemination of the destination internationally, and now, according to statements by its president to local media, it plans to return to the levels of visits received in 2019, pre-pandemic year.

The international air network in Brazil also grew significantly in May 2022 and currently represents 74.36% of the capacity it had in 2019, according to data compiled by Embratur’s Competitive Intelligence and Marketing Management together with the National Aviation Agency. Civil (Anak).
