The theme of the drug mafia in the State and the growing episodes of violence due to it was the subject of an urgent motion in the Assembly today. In the last session, the opposition presented an emergency resolution on the spread of drugs in the state. The discussion ended very positively with the Prime Minister and the government ready to accept the seriousness of the matter. But many things the Prime Minister said in that day’s discussion were not properly implemented afterwards. In particular, there has been no improvement in the police, excise and prosecution systems.
An urgent resolution was tabled today citing the need to further strengthen state enforcement systems in the context of the incidents of many students, including an 8th grader, caught in the drug trafficking ring yesterday. At the same time, the political support given to the drug mafia, especially the activists and leaders of left-leaning student youth organisations, was also underlined.
What kind of commitment does the ruling party have to the people of Kerala who walk away from them when the opposition calls for a discussion of the cancer of addiction that is consuming the entire society?
But the government’s lack of will was denounced by the Hon. The minister and the governing party did not like it: why did the opposition MLAs not care about the interest of the governing party in the assembly where the problems faced by Kerala and the difficulties faced by the people were discussed? Why do they wear trousers and why do they preach English?
No wonder the ruling party is afraid of arguments. No matter how hard you try to ignore it, no matter how loud you are, there is a strong opposition that is able to correct the ruling party and move forward. No matter how far we go on people’s issues, we will go forward on the people’s side with an uncompromising stance.
