Brazil, Colombia and Mexico ask the Venezuelan CNE to disclose – 2024-08-12 23:14:53

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 8 (EFE).- Brazil, Colombia and Mexicowho are trying to mediate a solution to the current crisis in Venezuelainsisted this Thursday on the disclosure of the results of all voting tables by the National Electoral Council and not from the Supreme Court, where they were supposedly sent.

The foreign ministers of the three countries said in a statement that “They consider it essential that the National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE) present the results of the presidential elections of July 28, 2024, broken down by voting table”.

They added that they had learned that the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela had initiated a process regarding the electoral process, but that they consider that the National Electoral Council is the “body that is legally responsible for the transparent dissemination of the electoral results.”

The foreign ministers of the three countries, who said they had received a mandate from the heads of state to continue dialogue on the situation in Venezuela, They reaffirmed the convenience of the Government of Nicolás Maduro allowing the impartial verification of the electoral results.

Given the uncertainty in the country and the violence generated by some demonstrations, They called for “caution and moderation” from all parties and expressed their willingness to promote a dialogue between the Government and the opposition that will allow the crisis to be overcome sovereignly by the Venezuelan people.

The ministers “They reiterate their call to the country’s political and social actors to exercise maximum caution and moderation in demonstrations and public events and to the country’s security forces to guarantee the full exercise of this democratic right within the limits of the law.”according to the second joint statement of the three countries.

The ministers reiterated that they will continue their “high-level talks” but with full respect for the sovereignty and will of the Venezuelan people, as they trust that the solution to the current situation will emerge in Venezuela.

“In this regard, they reiterate their willingness to support efforts for dialogue and the search for understandings that contribute to political stability and democracy in the country.”according to the note.

A few hours before the release of the statement on the post-electoral crisis in Venezuela following the proclaimed re-election of Maduro, the Colombian foreign minister, Luis Gilberto Murillo, said he saw a “ray of hope” in the management of the three countries.

Murillo said that the three countries have spoken with the Venezuelan government and with the “different oppositions.”

Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) declared President Maduro’s victory in the elections without providing evidencewhile the opposition presented thousands of voting records on a website that would give an overwhelming victory to Edmundo González Urrutia, supported by the leader María Corina Machado, who was prevented from registering her candidacy.
