In the initial phase they successively beat Argentina (4-0), Uruguay (3-0), Venezuela (4-0) and Peru (6-0); and in the semifinals he had beaten Paraguay, 2 to 0. That is to say, he scored a total of 20 goals and left with the fence undefeated.
