- This first instance of decentralized South-South technical cooperation between both countries aims to strengthen capacities in the application and development of public policies on innovation and creativity for sustainable development.
Santiago, August 19.- Within the framework of the Expo Smart City Santiago, held at the end of July, various international delegations took part, not only with the objective of participating in this event by disseminating their respective experiences, but also to continue establishing working alliances with the Government of Santiago.
This was the case of the technical mission that develops the project “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Urban Development in the Municipality of São Luís do Maranhão and the Metropolitan Region of Santiago de Chile”, the first decentralized South-South technical cooperation between Brazil and Chile, an instance financed and coordinated by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency ABC of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation – AGCID. The objective of this project is to strengthen capacities in the application and elaboration of public policies of innovation and creativity for sustainable development and is being developed by the Departments of Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Change; and Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of Santiago.
On this visit, the technical mission was made up of representatives of the Municipality of São Luís do Maranhão and a representative of the ABC: Verônica P. Pires, Municipal Secretary for Innovation, Sustainability and Special Projects (SEMISPE); Luiz Vinicius Muniz Cantanhede Brito, Innovation Policy Advisor (SEMISPE); André Luis Maciel Lobão, Creative Economy Policy Advisor; Fernanda Monteiro Oliveira, Superintendent of Creative Economy and Sustainability and, on behalf of the ABC, Andrer Luiz Pereira de Carvalho Galvão.
On this occasion, the Brazilian delegation participated in the Expo Smart City Santiago, in the panel “Innovative, sustainable and efficient urban services”, where they had the opportunity to present the progress that the Municipality of São Luís do Maranhão has made in its territory as a sustainable smart city.
In addition, they made visits to different innovation centers, such as the Center for the Revolution of Creative Industries CRT+IC (https://www.crtic.cl); Regional Integrated Management Center CEGIR of the Government of Santiago and the Innovation Center UC – Anacleto Angelini of the Renca factory
This visit was framed by various instances of dialogue and work, in which experiences were shared, opportunities were identified and new avenues for future collaboration were established.
