While Essonne was the scene of two brawls between gangs these last two days, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin went to Dourdan where he announced that he had deployed reinforcements. “I asked a hundred additional police and gendarmes to come to the department this evening so that things could calm down and so that there could be no aftershocks or new confrontations and to prepare for the back to school in the greatest security ”, he declared on BFMTV.
Gérald Darmanin, however, insisted on the idea that“We cannot always turn to society, to the police or the mayor, the parental role is important”. “We must put the authority of parents forward”, he insisted, emphasizing their “Duty of authority”.
Social networks singled out
Gérald Darmanin mentioned a “Security challenge” against “These bands which multiply”.
The Minister of the Interior pointed to the mimicry of social networks.
“Social networks and their mimicry often contribute to these confrontations, to this rise in mimetic violence, messaging, Telegram, WhatsApp which make it possible to escape the usual surveillance of the police and the gendarmerie”, did he declare.
Gérald Darmanin has also indicated that he will bring together the prefects of Ile-de-France at the end of the week to work on a “Improvement of what can be done », Because according to him, it is in Ile-de-France that “90% of these fights between young adolescents exist and sometimes end dramatically”.
