Brawl at the headquarters of the oil union leaves seven injured

A group of alleged dissident workers from the oil union yesterday broke into the union’s headquarters building, in the Guerrero neighborhood, leaving at least seven injured.

After the brawl, the leadership of the Petroleum Workers Union of the Mexican Republic (STPRM) assured that it will take the corresponding legal actions for vandalism, theft, break-ins and whatever results against Rubén Choreño Morales, who has not been a member of the union since 1992, he assured. at a press conference Fernando Navarrete, president of the general supervisory council of the workers’ group.

Around eight in the morning, hooded people – led by Choreño Morales, who on several occasions has proclaimed himself general secretary of the union organization – vandalized the STPRM headquarters, located on Zaragoza Street, with stones and sticks. The damage was mainly in the access to the building, where the doors were bent and the windows were broken.

Before entering the property, Choreño Morales assured that he was going to enforce the execution of a labor court which, as he stated, recognized him as general secretary and ordered that the offices be handed over to him.

After the confrontation, the dissident was injured, ended up bloodied and lying on the sidewalk in front of the union headquarters; He was subsequently hospitalized.

Hours after the events, Navarrete, close to the national leader Ricardo Aldana, pointed out that on several occasions Choreño Morales has tried to enter the STPRM building by force, in addition to lying about the supposed protection he obtained in his favor.
