Braves beat Giants again in 10 innings

Travis d’Arnaud homered early and added an RBI single in the 10th inning as the Atlanta Braves beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3 on Tuesday.

Dominican Ramón Laureano also sent a ball to the other side of the fence, while Austin Riley contributed a pair of singles as Atlanta achieved its second consecutive victory in extra innings over San Francisco.

The Braves beat the Giants 1-0 in 10 innings on Monday in the series opener on a sacrifice fly by D’Arnaud.

Pinch-hitter Luke Williams started the 10th inning as the automatic runner. With one out, D’Arnaud grounded out to right field.

The ball deflected off Brett Wisely’s glove, who dove for it but couldn’t stop it from going into right field.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Giants attempted to bunt the ball to get the automatic runner to third base. However, it was called for batter’s interference. Pop-ups by LaMonte Wade Jr. and Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos ended the hostilities.

Dylan Lee (4-2) retired three batters to earn the win. Cuban Raisel Iglesias pitched the 10th inning to reach 25 saves.

The Braves (63-56) extended their lead over the New York Mets to two games in the race for the final wild-card spot in the National League playoffs. The Giants (61-61) are three games back.

For the Braves, Cuban Jorge Soler was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Dominicans Marcell Ozuna was 1-for-5, Laureano was 2-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI. Venezuelan Orlando Arica was 0-for-5.

For the Giants, Puerto Rican Ramos was 2-for-5. Dominican Jerar Encarnación was 0-for-4.
