ATLANTA (AP) — Travis d’Arnaud hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the sixth inning in his first game in a week, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 on Saturday for their sixth win in seven games.
Venezuelans Orlando Arcia and Dominicans Ramón Laureano hit solo homers, and Whit Merrifield added two hits, two walks and a run scored for the Braves.
Four Atlanta relievers combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings and Pierce Johnson pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.
Nationals rookie Jose Tena went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, the first of his career. CJ Abrams and Andres Chaparro each added two hits for Washington.
Braves starter Charlie Morton went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with two walks. He struck out six.
Aaron Bummer (4-2) finished the sixth inning for the win.
For the Nationals, Venezuelans Juan Yépez went 1-for-4 and Keibert Ruiz went 0-for-3 with one run scored.
For the Braves, Dominican Marcell Ozuna went 1-for-4. Colombian Gio Urshela went 2-for-4.
